Do you know what can go in your blue recycling bin? Chances are, you can recycle more than you think. The City of Columbia accepts aluminum, phone books, cardboard, cartons, paper, paperboard and plastic containers in your curbside bin.
The City also accepts electronics, flourescent bulbs, batteries and cooking oil at their Public Works facility (2910 Colonial Drive). Richland County accepts larger items like appliances, electronics and tires at the landfill too (1070 Caughman Rd.)
Please note that, by law, household electronics cannot be disposed of in the trash; they must be recycled!
